    Yaakov,

    You asked what inspires someone…I am inspired by Matisse! I quote from him:

    “I would not get rid of my feelings by copying the tree…I have to create an object that resembles the tree.”

    “The object is not so interesting in itself…it is the surroundings that create the object.”

    “I can only discover my art slowly…the expression of a dream always inspired by reality.”

    “I have wanted to draw trees so many times…but I have never managed it. Trying to copy them, I have never been encouraged to go on.”
